What’s happening in Melbourne:
Previous days in Melbourne, the GSS participants were introduced to the central topics of the GSS Melbourne node brief: digital design and bio-fabrication. In this sense, students started to approach parametric design tools, digital fabrication techniques and laboratory science equipment in order to investigate geometric, informed by biology and propose functional components grown from bio-materials.
This year, the GSS participants are keen on multidisciplinary learning in design and biology, experimentation and speculation through coupling digital coding with biological cultivating. At the end of the programme, they will review their proposals through the spectrum of low energy, renewable and polyvalent alternatives to existing paradigms of building and manufacturing.
