BECOMING | DAILY DIARY | DAY 07

What’s happening in Monterrey:

Previous days in Monterrey, the GSS participants were introduced to Augmented Reality through Rhino and Grasshopper softwares and became familiar with the idea of “Digital Builders”. The main theme of this years GSS course focuses on the use of technology as a bridge between designers and builders.

Being not mandatory the use of blueprints nowadays, the constructors are now allowed to see what they are going to build step by step. Moreover by superimposing a computer-generated image on a user’s view of the real world, it is possible to reduce the chances for mistakes and misunderstandings. After all the aim of the workshop is the exploration of the intersection between design of complex geometries, augmented reality and traditional construction techniques. For this reason day seven was completely dedicated to computational design iterations and prototyping.
